Romanian burglary gang linked to £700,000 spree gets just ten years BETWEEN THEM after being caught tunnelling into a jeweller

Ioan Asafeti, 39, received four years and 10 months, Sergiu Plastin, 42, three years and four months, and Laurentiu-Daniel Nitisoara, 38, only two years. The trio had smashed through a massage parlour wall to reach Selvaraja Gold House on Mitcham Road, Tooting, just after 3am on 17 July. They had already raided the same shop in May. Interpol inquiries suggest possible links to similar crimes in Europe.

Nitisoara walked towards officers with his hands raised; Asafeti was found hiding on a rooftop.

Plastin was caught at Stansted that afternoon trying to flee to Ireland.

The gang had flown into Britain shortly before launching their May-to-July raids.
