Rough seas force Amelia Earhart search team to pause as deadline to identify mysterious lagoon object nears

A 17-person expedition searching for Earhart's lost Lockheed Electra 10-E has begun collecting data on the Taraia Object, a visual anomaly detected in the lagoon at Nikumaroro island that researchers believe may be aircraft wreckage. Purdue University says two days of field operations remain before the team must depart, with an update on the object's identification expected this weekend. Earhart vanished on 2 July 1937 while attempting to be the first woman to circumnavigate the globe by air.
