The world's largest military airshow is set to leave its Gloucestershire base after more than four decades, following the cancellation of the 2026 edition after Middle East conflict made access to RAF Fairford uncertain. The Royal Air Force Charitable Trust Enterprises announced on Wednesday that RIAT will move to MOD Boscombe Down near Amesbury, Wiltshire, from 16-18 July 2027 onwards, with organisers pledging greater international participation and new attractions at the Wiltshire venue.

The 2026 show was cancelled after Middle East conflict threw Fairford access into doubt, prompting the decision to relocate.

The Fairford show drew around 170,000 visitors each year; tickets already purchased for 2027 will be honoured.

RAFCTE chief executive Gavin Gager described the move as 'about securing the future of the world's greatest military airshow.'
