Royal Mail unveils five Christmas stamps featuring traditional Nativity scenes, 60 years after the first festive stamps were issued
Five traditional Nativity scenes — depicting Mary, Joseph, the infant Jesus, an angel, shepherds and the Three Wise Men — feature on Royal Mail's 2026 Christmas stamps, illustrated by Rebecca Sutherland, who said the commission had always been at the top of her career ambitions.
Illustrator Rebecca Sutherland, a lifelong stamp collector who kept stamps as a child, created the five designs alongside graphic designer Gareth Howat, depicting Mary and Joseph's journey, the infant Jesus, an angel, the shepherds and the Three Wise Men.
The 60th anniversary milestone dates to December 1, 1966, when Tony Benn launched the first Christmas stamps via a children's art competition.
Royal Mail is urging customers to post by December 18 for second class, December 19 for Tracked 48, and December 21 for first class.
Scam warning: Royal Mail customers are being urged to ignore unexpected texts claiming failed deliveries, as festive parcel fraud surges.
