Royal Navy sailor Teddy Young, who is accused of plotting to leak secrets to Russia, faces three new charges

Prosecutors allege that Teddy Young, 24, exploited his high-level intelligence clearance to copy secret material onto personal devices during a Navy deployment. He is said to have composed a message in Russian and attempted to contact Moscow's authorities via the dark web. The court heard he had shown interest in a website operated by Russia's SVR spy service. He attended proceedings by video link from Belmarsh prison.
He is accused of sending classified material to personal email, WhatsApp and Discord.
He also faces two counts of failing to hand police a USB stick and an SD card.
Young joined the Navy in April 2024 and allegedly began offending on his first deployment.
