Royal portrait artists who painted the late Queen and King Charles turn their brushes on four high-street business owners

Barnsley chippy owner Pindy Kaur, Glasgow cafe owner Gino Verrecchia, Devon landlord Simon Dafforn-Jones and Catford shopkeeper Kaual Patel are the faces of 'Local Royalty'. Their portraits will go on show at London's Saatchi Gallery from 28 October to 2 November. Research suggests nearly 80% think independent businesses are underappreciated. Each owner keeps their portrait plus a charity donation.

Nicky Philipps, three-time painter of the late Queen, hailed Kaur as 'the fish and chip queen of the north'.

Patel was painted live in his shop: 'This simply doesn't happen to an everyday shopkeeper.'

Verrecchia's grandfather opened the University Cafe in 1918, and Anthony Bourdain once dropped in for battered haggis.
