Russell Brand rape accuser went from a 'bright, bubbly' girl to battling alcoholism, her friend tells Southwark court

The friend told jurors: 'This experience definitely changed her.' The woman says she met Russell Brand at a Hammersmith Apollo gig in 2009 and alleges a consensual encounter at his Hampstead townhouse later turned into rape. Her friend said she was trying to get sober when they met a Sunday Times journalist. Brand, 51, denies all seven charges.

Six women have now given evidence across the first nine days of the trial.

The prosecution case resumes on Monday, with the defence case expected to follow next week.
