Russell Brand's former flatmate tells rape trial that sex was 'a huge preoccupation' for the entertainer

Andrew Dobson, who shared accommodation with Russell Brand at the 1999 Labour Party conference in Bournemouth, told Southwark Crown Court on Friday that Brand was "very egotistical", "erratic" and driven by a nightly pursuit of getting women into bed. Dobson also recalled Brand returning to their guesthouse the following morning in a "panicked urgency", demanding they leave immediately — the morning after one complainant alleges she was raped by Brand in a hotel room. Brand, 51, denies all seven charges against him, which span six female complainants across a decade.
The first Bournemouth accuser told police Brand raped her despite her pleading 'get off me, please stop, it hurts' in an attack she said left her unable to breathe.
The same woman said she feared she was pregnant after the alleged 1999 attack and described Brand's body as 'snake-like' and his tongue 'like a lizard'.
Brand faces three counts of rape, three of sexual assault and one of indecent assault, with allegations spanning 1999 to 2009.
