Russell Brand sits motionless in the dock as two accusers give evidence in the first week of his rape trial

His wife Laura Gallacher held his hand outside Southwark Crown Court and has arrived with him on three of the trial's five days so far. Prosecutor Riel Karmy-Jones KC told jurors the 51-year-old had an 'indiscriminate and voracious' desire for sexual contact. He faces three counts of rape, three of sexual assault and one of indecent assault involving six women. Brand denies every charge.

His first accuser called him 'monster-like' after a 1999 Labour conference event.

Ex-flatmate Andrew Dobson told jurors sex was a 'huge preoccupation' for Brand.

A second accuser said he became a 'wild-eyed maniac' at MTV's offices in 2001.
