A Russian jet-powered drone struck the National Academy of Sciences in central Kyiv during daytime working hours, killing at least one person and injuring 19 others, six of whom were hospitalised. Fire tore through the historic building, forcing workers to use ladders to climb down from upper floors. The strike formed part of a broader assault that left at least seven people dead and more than 80 wounded across Ukraine, with Dnipro, Synelnykove and other cities among those hit.
Zelenskyy warned Ukraine can now intercept only just over half of Russia's new faster, high-flying jet drones — far fewer than the older propeller-powered versions.
