Russia kills at least 24 in double-tap strike on Ukrainian school aid hub, a day after Melania Trump's truce ended
Russia struck Komyshuvakha village in the Zaporizhzhia region in a "double-tap" attack, first hitting a school that had been serving as a humanitarian aid distribution point, then dropping nine further 3,000kg guided bombs on the shelter where survivors had sought refuge. President Zelensky put the death toll at 26, with 27 people still unaccounted for as rescue teams faced the threat of additional strikes while attempting to reach those buried in the rubble.
Among those killed were two rescue workers, Denys Konovalenko and Oleksy Sushchevsky, both 44, and four police officers.
Zelensky said the attack followed immediately after Melania Trump had negotiated a six-day local ceasefire in Kherson — a period he described as 'a moment when progress toward peace was possible.'
Both Ukraine and Russia were also targeted by separate cyberattacks on emergency alert apps, with Ukrainian phones displaying a fabricated nuclear strike warning composed in Russian.
