Russia pounds Kyiv with missiles and drones just hours after Trump envoy Steve Witkoff called Putin a 'humanitarian'
Steve Witkoff (right), the top Trump aide, with Vladimir Putin, as a Kremlin aide said a new round of three-way peace talks could be held around 10 November in Abu Dhabi.
Scotland Secretary Douglas Alexander said Britain rejects the characterisation, declaring 'we simply do not recognise' Putin as a humanitarian. He pointed to the illegal invasion of Ukraine and attempted assassinations on UK soil. Overnight strikes left at least seven people dead across Ukraine. In Kyiv's Dniprovskyi district, a child was among the six people wounded alongside one fatality.
Witkoff's praise came as he thanked Putin for freeing retired US teacher Stephen Hubbard, 74.
Republican and Democratic lawmakers both rebuked the envoy's gushing remark.
The Kremlin agreed 'in principle' to resume three-way peace talks after November 10.
