Russia threatens Britain with nuclear weapons in response to hypothetical Sky News wargame TV show

Russia's embassy in London has cautioned that a British or NATO attack on Russian territory — including a blockade or strike on Kaliningrad — would trigger a nuclear response, after a Sky News drama depicted just such a scenario. The warning followed the broadcast of 'The Wargame', a mini-series in which a fictional Cabinet voted to hit a Russian base in Kaliningrad. The embassy used both Telegram and X to tell viewers of the show they should have "no illusions about the consequences."

The nuclear warning came alongside foreign minister Sergei Lavrov separately casting doubt on Britain's future, arguing it appears uncertain given that "the Celts" in Wales, Scotland and Ireland are pushing for independence referendums.
