Russian bombs kill 18 people at a humanitarian aid centre in southern Ukraine as fighting returns after the longest ceasefire

At least nine Russian 3,000kg aerial bombs struck a village in southern Ukraine, killing 18 people at a humanitarian aid centre, with local officials warning 27 more remain missing. The attack came hours after the six-day ceasefire — the longest since the war began — collapsed and fighting resumed in the Kherson region.

Ukraine accuses Russia of using the Melania Trump-brokered Oleshky truce to reinforce military positions rather than deliver aid.

The ceasefire, though unprecedented in length, failed to alter the war's wider trajectory, with analysts saying it changed little on the ground.

An investigation reveals Russia is also seizing holiday resorts on the Sea of Azov in occupied Ukrainian territory.
