Russian drone kills 13 people on a railway platform in Ukraine's Dnipro where a passenger train was waiting
Volodymyr Zelensky swiftly appealed to the United States to take stronger action in response to the attack.
Zelenskyy called the strike "horrific" and urged the EU, US and G7 to impose tighter sanctions on Moscow, asking how many more attacks would have to happen while Russian oligarchs and the energy sector remained shielded from pressure. The drone — one of four launched at the area — hit the platform at around 10:50am local time while train No. 866, bound for Zaporizhzhia, was standing there, even though a high-alert warning had been in effect. An 11-year-old boy is among four patients now in a critical condition.
Dnipro Mayor Borys Filatov denounced the strike as "a genocidal war" and said authorities "have the guts to say things as they are."
Ukrainian air defences intercepted three of the four Russian drones; the one that evaded them hit the platform.
In the first eight months of 2026 alone, Russia has launched more than 1,600 attacks against Ukraine's railway network.
