Russian drone strike kills 14 on a packed railway platform in Ukraine's Dnipro as Zelensky demands harsher sanctions on Moscow
Volodymyr Zelensky swiftly appealed to the United States to take stronger action in response to the attack.
A Russian jet-powered drone slammed into a crowded platform at Dnipro railway station on Thursday morning, hitting train No. 866 as it prepared to depart for Zaporizhzhia. The regional governor confirmed the toll has risen to 14 dead and 14 wounded, with six in critical condition. Passengers were on the platform despite an active high-alert warning being in force at the time.
Among the critically injured is an 11-year-old boy; a 40-year-old man lost both legs in the attack.
President Zelensky called the strike 'horrific' and demanded the EU, US and G7 impose 'new, stronger sanctions steps' on Moscow.
French President Emmanuel Macron said it was 'intolerable' that Russia kept pursuing escalation, calling for 'far more than a localised ceasefire'.
