Ruth Langsford breaks down on Loose Women as she says dying dog Maggie 'waited' for son to come home

The border collie cross died aged 16 last week after a sudden bronchial infection. Ruth Langsford, 66, said Maggie licked Jack's face when he arrived and that the family was with her to the end. She admitted she once would have done 'an inward eyeroll' at such a story. Ruth also hinted she was reunited with estranged husband Eamonn Holmes to say goodbye.

Ruth and Eamonn adopted Maggie from a Dogs Trust rescue centre in 2011.

Maggie was a regular guest on the This Morning sofa beside the former co-hosts.

Ruth has not yet told her mother, who has dementia, that Maggie has died.
