Ruth Langsford mourns death of border collie Maggie, aged 16, the dog she shared with Eamonn Holmes

Ruth Langsford took to Instagram to announce the death of Maggie, her 16-year-old border collie cross, whom she had rescued from Dogs Trust in 2011. The former This Morning presenter, 66, posted an emotional tribute to her 1.1 million followers, writing: 'Her passing was painless and peaceful and we were with her until the very end.' The announcement came months after ex-husband Eamonn Holmes suffered a stroke in April, with sources revealing Ruth had been helping to care for her frail former husband.
After their 2024 split, Maggie was shared between the pair, with Holmes praising Ruth for 'doing all the hard stuff' because his wheelchair restrictions prevented him from taking on more.
Among the celebrities who rallied around Ruth online were Amanda Holden, Vanessa Feltz, Lisa Armstrong and Vogue Williams.
Holmes and Langsford first brought Maggie home from Dogs Trust in 2011, a year after she was born, and she remained part of the family for 15 years.
