Ryan Reynolds called Sony bosses 'bulls***ters' in desperate texts to save Blake Lively as execs privately branded her 'epic level stupid'

Newly unsealed court documents reveal that Ryan Reynolds, 49, bombarded Sony Pictures with angry texts demanding the studio rally behind his wife Blake Lively during the controversy surrounding her 'It Ends With Us' promotional tour. Reynolds accused Sony executives of 'bulls***ting' him and pushed them to kill a damaging story about Lively, even while senior figures at the studio were privately describing her PR choices as 'epic level stupid'. The messages emerged after Lively's lawsuit against co-star and director Justin Baldoni largely collapsed — ten of her 13 claims, including allegations of sexual harassment and a smear campaign, were thrown out in April, with the outstanding claims settling in May.
In separate texts to author Colleen Hoover, Reynolds described Baldoni as 'a predator and sociopath' and a 'human rounding error' sent to his own agent.
The public backlash against Lively stemmed from her choice to plug a haircare brand alongside a domestic violence film and from a dismissive comment she made to abuse survivors who came forward to speak to her.
Baldoni had filed a countersuit against Lively for defamation and extortion, seeking $400 million, before both sides agreed a settlement on 4 May 2026.
