From November 10, Ryanair will extend its check-in and bag drop deadline from 40 minutes before departure to a full hour, requiring passengers travelling with luggage to budget more time at the airport. The new cut-off applies across every airport in Ryanair's network and will affect the 20 per cent of customers who check baggage. CMO Dara Brady said the change is designed to give travellers a better chance of clearing security and passport queues during busy periods.
A 'small number' of passengers have missed flights under the current 40-minute cut-off.
The 80 per cent of passengers who travel without checked bags and check in online will be unaffected.
Ryanair is also rolling out self-service bag-drop kiosks at over 95 per cent of its airports to cut queuing time.
