Parents 'could face jail' for opposing their child's gender transition under Labour's conversion practices bill, report warns

A Policy Exchange report by barrister Akua Reindorf KC and Baroness Kishwer Falkner concludes that Labour's Conversion Practices Bill is "ideological, authoritarian and unworkable" and would criminalise parents who try to dissuade children from gender transition. The think tank warns the draft legislation is "wholly unsuitable for a democratic and pluralistic society" and would effectively smuggle gender self-identification into law.
The report cautions that the Bill would 'criminalise ordinary conversations between parents and children', something Baroness Falkner describes as an "unconscionable intrusion into family life."
Former Olympic swimmer Sharron Davies has endorsed the findings, warning the legislation is 'dangerous for parents — and most importantly for vulnerable children.'
Policy Exchange argues the Bill would introduce gender self-ID 'by the back door', sidestepping the democratic debate Parliament has repeatedly declined to settle.
