Sabrina Carpenter, the 27-year-old pop star behind Espresso and Taste, has been cast as Hollywood legend Ginger Rogers in an untitled Fred Astaire biopic, with Tom Holland playing Astaire. Margaret Qualley, 31, joins the film as Adele Astaire, Fred's sister and original dance partner. The project will be directed by Paul King, the filmmaker behind Paddington and Wonka.
King said he could not imagine bringing 'these icons of the twentieth century' to screen without Holland, Qualley and Carpenter by his side.
Qualley and Carpenter previously worked together on Carpenter's 2026 music video for 'House Tour', making this a reunion for the pair.
The biopic marks Carpenter's first lead film role since Espresso launched her into superstardom in 2024, and comes after she collected her first Emmy for a Muppet Show special on Disney+.
