Sadiq Khan says Oxford Street's car ban from tomorrow will rid the road of 'dross' American candy shops

Every bus route will be pushed off a one-kilometre stretch from Orchard Street, home of Selfridges, to Great Portland Street. Oxford Circus is included in the zone. Cars will be barred from 7am to midnight, with only emergency services and delivery lorries exempt. E-bikes and e-scooters will also be banned, TfL has confirmed, while new cycleways are still being built.
The street draws 120 million visitors a year, and none of them will arrive by car.
TfL plans to raise the road to pavement height, with the first sections due by spring 2027.
Duke Street, Holles Street and New Bond Street remain open to drivers wishing to cross.
