San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York is fined $500,000 and suspended six games after prostitution arrest in Ohio

Jed York, who also co-owns Scottish football club Rangers, was fined $500,000 and handed a six-game NFL ban for violating the league's Personal Conduct Policy after a trafficking task force arrested him in East Palestine, Ohio on 23 August. He pleaded no contest to two misdemeanour charges and was fined $1,150 with one day in jail, credited as time served.

Three of the six NFL suspension games have already been served, meaning York faces only three remaining games on the sidelines.

York apologised in a statement, calling it an 'inexcusable mistake' that does 'not reflect my values or the man I strive to be for my family.'

The married father-of-two had $160 on his person at the time of the arrest, according to police records.
