A Pakistani court has granted permanent guardianship of Sara Sharif's five siblings to their paternal grandfather, Muhammed Sharif, ending three years of legal uncertainty. The children, now aged between four and 16, will continue living with Muhammed Sharif in Jhelum, Pakistan, and retain their British passports. Surrey County Council had failed in a bid to return them to England after they were made wards of court following Sara's murder.
The eldest child told the judge they felt at home and content in Pakistan, greeting the ruling with 'that's all good.'
Sara's father Urfan Sharif was sentenced to a minimum of 40 years for her murder; stepmother Beinash Batool received at least 33 years.
Muhammed Sharif said: 'It is my responsibility to ensure they get the best possible education and care.'
