SAS soldiers arrested over the killing of two ISIS teens were 'sent back to Syria' just 48 hours after questioning
The five elite troops spent three years facing the threat of life in jail under a military police probe codenamed Operation Tanglement. They shot two teenagers dead during a night raid targeting a senior ISIS cell boss in Deir el-Zor in July 2022. The boys had refused to surrender after shots rang out overhead. Investigators accused the men of 'disproportionate force' because no weapons were found by the bodies.
The pair were later revealed to be jihadis working for Islamic State.
All five were arrested in raids on secret bases in Syria, Iraq and Britain.
The probe reportedly plunged the SAS into an 'existential' crisis as recruitment dwindled.
