Scotland's Deputy First Minister says Andy Burnham is acting like the 'first prime minister of England'

Jenny Gilruth told the SNP conference in Aberdeen that every major announcement from the Prime Minister 'seems to be England only'. She mocked his 'Number 10 North' for sitting 'firmly in the southern half of the UK'. Gilruth dared Burnham to show the 'courage' to grant a second independence referendum. Burnham has told First Minister John Swinney that such a vote is 'off limits'.

Swinney said: 'Scotland is no city. We are no region. We are a nation.'

The SNP will launch its Choose Scotland independence campaign, backed by a 'six-figure war chest'.

Gilruth, married to Kezia Dugdale, joked: 'We welcome Labour leaders to SNP conference.'
