Scots lawyer's mum says US authorities' silence over daughter's murder is 'heartbreaking'

Jill Bunyan discovered that a September 4 court hearing in her daughter June's murder case had taken place almost two weeks before she found out about it. June Bunyan, 37, from the Isle of Arran, was found dead at her Los Angeles apartment last September, shortly after the birth of a daughter. Her husband Jonathan Renteria, 25, is in custody on suspicion of murder, dismemberment, and engaging in sexual acts with human remains, and has pleaded not guilty. Jill says she still does not know who is caring for baby Regina while Renteria remains behind bars.

Renteria's attorney has raised the possibility that he was in a psychotic state when June died.

'It almost feels like nobody cares,' Jill told BBC Scotland, adding the lack of communication is 'as bad as losing June.'

The case has been continued until October, with Jill's family still being kept in the dark over basic details nearly a year on.
