Scottish dad-of-three spends £6,000 stocking a doomsday shelter to last 25 years, but his kids think he's 'nuts'

Brian Forbes, 52, an engineer surveyor living between Glasgow and Stirling, says his greatest concern is the deteriorating state of Britain's power grid. In 2026 alone he has spent £2,500 on freeze-dried food, £2,000 on power banks and £500 on a new generator. He points to the 40,000 people left dependent on bottled water for a month this year as proof of the dangers. His prepping began after the brutal winter of 2010 left his family without adequate supplies.

His wife Donna, 51, was sceptical at first but now splits the prepping bills.

He insists his night-vision goggles are 'not for hunting people'.

His defiant reply to his doubting children: 'I only need to be right once.'
