Scott Brash, the two-time Olympic gold medallist from Peebles, is under investigation by Spanish police on suspicion of manslaughter after the Audi Q3 he was driving collided with a motorcyclist near Oliva, Valencia, killing the 20-year-old Spanish man at the scene. Brash's passenger, Sira Martinez, 26 — daughter of PSG manager Luis Enrique and reportedly his partner — escaped without injury. Brash passed roadside drug and alcohol tests and has not been formally charged, as Spanish law requires charges only shortly before trial.
Police say Brash appears to have made an improper turn and will likely face a judicial summons to answer questions before a judge.
Sira Martinez is an accomplished equestrian in her own right and was not driving and is not a suspect.
The crash comes seven years after the Luis Enrique family lost his youngest daughter Xana to bone cancer, aged nine, in 2019.
