Police Scotland has confirmed active inquiries into claims that women were trafficked to Balmoral by Jeffrey Epstein during visits to the King's Aberdeenshire estate involving Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Ghislaine Maxwell. The force says inquiries are at a "very early stage" and are "evidence-led, with the needs of victim survivors at the heart." At least nine police forces across the UK are now running live investigations linked to the Epstein files.
Flight logs show Andrew and Maxwell flew from Luton to Edinburgh on Epstein's 'Lolita Express' jet on 1 September 2006; police want to speak to anyone with information about that trip.
US prosecutors previously released photographs showing Epstein and Maxwell at a Balmoral log cabin in 1999, when Andrew reportedly invited the pair to stay at the estate.
Andrew, already released under investigation over alleged misconduct as trade envoy, denies all wrongdoing; a High Court judge earlier this month ruled the warrants used to raid his homes were unlawful.
