Seattle's former police chief denies acknowledging contradictions in Kurt Cobain evidence as watchdog probes his department's response
Shon Barnes is accused of conceding there was no blood on the left hand Kurt Cobain allegedly used to hold the shotgun. Researchers Michelle Wilkins and ex-prosecutor Mark Larson say he made the remark at a November 4, 2025 meeting. Barnes insists he never affirmed any inconsistencies. Seattle police say the case has not been reopened and the suicide ruling stands.
The 'Who Killed Kurt?' team's peer-reviewed study claims Cobain's death was a staged homicide.
Seattle's Office of Police Accountability has opened a preliminary investigation into the complaint.
Wilkins said brain and liver necrosis 'happens in an overdose' but not in a shotgun death.
