Security guard jailed for eight and a half years for rape was protecting Nigel Farage while facing the charge

Ryan Dinnage, 32, travelled with Farage on the Reform UK local election campaign trail in April and May 2026, with stops in Llandudno, Waterlooville, Worthing and Downham Market — even though he had faced a rape charge since 2025. He received an eight-year-and-six-month sentence in August after a jury convicted him of raping a sleeping woman in a caravan at the Royal Windsor Horse Show in the early hours of 16 May 2022.
Reform UK acknowledged that Dinnage had been engaged through a third-party contractor, who gave the party assurances that he had been fully vetted.
The party maintains it was 'shocked and disgusted' and severed ties with Dinnage as soon as it learned of the charge against him.
Labour has called on Farage to clarify precisely when Reform became aware of the rape charge and what steps the party will take to stop similar vetting failures recurring.
