Selma Blair's lawyer pleads for her to get 'help' as missed MS drug is named in flight assault case
Blair faces two state counts of second-degree assault — including kicking a nurse in the chest at Jamaica Hospital — after her attorney argued missed MS medication and a head injury caused unintentional behaviour.
Selma Blair's on-off boyfriend Andy Kiernan has taken to Instagram with a public appeal, asking followers to 'pray for Selma' and describing her as having 'a good heart' while adding that she 'hasn't yet got the help she needs'. Blair, 54, faced arraignment Monday on two counts of second-degree assault, with prosecutors alleging she punched and bit Delta flight attendants, kicked a Port Authority officer inside an ambulance, and kicked nurse Ashley DeLeo in the chest at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center. Her attorney Shawn Barnes pointed to Nuedexta — an MS drug Blair had allegedly missed several doses of — as a central factor, along with a head injury she suffered during the flight.
The judge stated from the bench that Blair 'should not get special treatment' after her lawyer highlighted her 'gold standard' body of work, and the case has been adjourned to January 19 2027.
A conviction could carry a sentence of two to seven years in prison, and Blair also faces a separate FBI federal summons for assault aboard the aircraft.
Despite the charges, Blair is still scheduled to appear at '90s Con in Hartford, Connecticut this Friday, charging fans $60 for autographs or selfies.
