Serbia's Students' List movement, which swept Sunday's election to end 14 years of Aleksandar Vucic's rule, held a press conference in Belgrade on Thursday demanding that police, intelligence and judiciary chiefs step aside before a new government can be formed. Student Filip Ubovic told reporters "changes are starting now" and "institutions belong to the citizens." The outgoing authorities remain in control while a formal transition — expected to take several weeks — gets under way.

Students also urged election authorities to declare final results immediately so a new parliament can be seated.
