Serbian police officer shoots dead an ISIS-supporting teenager screaming 'Allahu Akbar' who attacked him with knives outside Belgrade's Israeli embassy
Serbia's national security threat level was raised to red after a knifeman attacked a police guard outside the Israeli Embassy in Belgrade before being shot dead.
Interior Minister Ivica Dacic confirmed Serbia's terror threat has been raised to its highest level after a teenage Islamic State supporter from the western Serbian town of Sabac opened the door to a guard's booth outside the Belgrade embassy and charged at the officer inside, throwing one knife and hitting his left cheek. The officer, identified only by his initials D.S., fired several shots and killed the attacker on the spot just after midnight.
According to Dacic, intelligence services had the attacker under surveillance; he had displayed a black IS flag on his Instagram account.
It is the second attack on the Belgrade Israeli embassy in two years — in June 2024, a crossbow attacker wounded a guard and was also shot dead.
Israel confirmed no embassy personnel were injured, adding that the mission had not been open when the attack occurred.
