Shark warning notices posted at Marina State Beach after great white photobombs California beachgoers

Erin King had offered to take photos for sisters Rania, Rachal and Aya Melhem at Marina State Beach near Monterey Bay on October 17, and when they returned the favour, a great white shark breached dramatically behind her. The sisters first took it for a dolphin, until they filmed a real pod moments later. California State Parks cameras recorded a breach at around 12.20pm, matching the sisters' footage.

Chief Ranger Mike Dippel said the video timestamps lined up 'perfectly' with the park's camera.

Shark warning notices are now posted at the beach, though officials insist encounters are rare.

King said: 'It happened so fast. I mean, it was just an instant.'
