'She's fair game': Trump says he told Vivek Ramaswamy to keep Ohio ad featuring Amy Acton's estranged mother
At a rally in Sioux City, Iowa, on Thursday night, President Donald Trump said Ramaswamy had asked him whether to pull the ad. Trump said he told him to 'leave it up' and thank God for it. Acton's last contact with her mother, Donna Arthur, was in 1978 — the year her stepfather faced an indictment for raping her at 12, though he was never brought to trial.
Trump branded Ohio Governor Mike DeWine a 'RINO' for calling the ad 'deeply, deeply troubling'.
Vice President JD Vance said he was 'a little bit disgusted' by Republicans 'whining' about it.
Acton's campaign called the ad a 'despicable low' as her fundraising surged.
