Starpowa Magnesium Super Strength gummies cost £1.33 a day yet deliver only 206mg of magnesium, well below the 375mg recommended intake despite a 'high-strength' label. Nutriva Magnesium Complex tablets offer 400mg for just 17p. Switching would save £423.40 a year. Holland & Barrett's own magnesium gummies give half the dose of its tablets at more than double the price.

Boots Multivitamin gummies hold just nine vitamins, none at recommended daily doses.

Boots A-Z tablets cost 7p a day and pack all 23 essential nutrients.

The Boots gummies contain five different sugars and sweeteners, twice the tablets' additives.
