Shoppers defy Storm Austen to queue for Apple's £1,999 foldable iPhone Duo as stores sell out within hours
A concept render of the Apple iPhone Duo, which sold out online within minutes of going on sale, with some buyers now facing delivery waits until January.
Online orders have already slipped to late January, making walk-in stock the only realistic route for most buyers. At Apple's Fifth Avenue store in New York, supplies for walk-in customers were gone by 10am. Alex Wong had joined the queue 18 hours before the doors opened, yet was positioned only around 25th in line. At Covent Garden, Paul, 58, was first through the doors at 8am despite a Met Office yellow wind warning.
Top-spec models cost up to £3,199, Apple's most expensive handset yet.
One shopper at the World Trade Center store complained of 'many scalpers'.
The Duo is an early test for new Apple chief executive John Ternus.
