Shotgun used to kill three children and a teacher at Oregon school was a BIRTHDAY GIFT from the gunman's mother

Shauntai Nickerson legally bought the Maverick 88 pump-action shotgun in August and gave it to her son, Griffin J John II, 16, as a birthday present for recreational use. The family of Rhoam Summer, 5, has retained attorneys to investigate how the teenager gained access to the weapon. Counsel will also examine whether Silver Rail Elementary in Bend had an active shooter protocol in place. Police say no motive has been established.

Teacher Megan Lambert, 25, and all three children died in the first classroom he entered.

Kaylub Giamanco, 36, a father of two daughters attending the school, shot the gunman dead.

In 2020, Nickerson told a local TV station her son had special needs.
