Sinn Féin's McDonald demands Bryant intervene NOW as Drumcree deadlock is called 'bigger than Garvaghy Road'

Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald has accused Northern Ireland Secretary Sir Chris Bryant of letting the 11-day Drumcree standoff "fester", demanding he use his powers to halt the Orange Order parade. Taoiseach Micheál Martin is also facing pressure to apply direct political force on Prime Minister Andy Burnham over the impasse. Residents' groups from every major former flashpoint across Northern Ireland have now united behind the Garvaghy Road coalition, warning that parading accommodations elsewhere could collapse.
Linda O'Neill of the Garvaghy Road Residents Coalition says the standoff is now 'bigger than Garvaghy Road' itself.
Dozens of artists including Noel Gallagher, Irvine Welsh and Ken Loach signed an open letter urging Bryant to appoint an international mediator.
