Six Americans sue Trump and three top aides, claiming his White House press ban robs the public of news

White House chief of staff Susie Wiles is among the defendants in the case, lodged on Monday in federal court in Manhattan. The Knight First Amendment Institute and Yale Law School's Media Freedom & Information Access Clinic brought it. The suit targets Trump's bid to strip press credentials from POLITICO, CNN and MS NOW reporters. A human rights advocate and a political journalist are among the plaintiffs.

All six say they rely on independent White House reporting for teaching, journalism or advocacy.

The complaint claims 'the ultimate injury here … is to the democratic public'.
