Six are feared dead after a helicopter carrying pilgrims from a Hindu shrine crashes in India's Himalayas amid snowfall
Rescue teams from the army, police, State Disaster Response Force and Indo-Tibetan Border Police have been rushed to the mountainous Chamoli district. Uttarakhand's chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said he is personally monitoring the situation and has ordered the critically injured to be immediately airlifted to medical facilities.
The region was under an orange weather alert, with thunderstorms, hail and winds gusting to 50kmph — bad weather is the suspected cause.
