Six Flags Goliath coaster was last inspected months before teacher 'passed out' and fell to his death

Hassan Kariem, 42, lost consciousness before his restraint latch snapped and ejected him from the Goliath roller coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia on Monday, his 13-year-old niece told her father moments after witnessing the fall. Investigators have now revealed the coaster had not been inspected for months before the fatal incident, deepening questions about whether it could have been prevented. Kariem, a technology teacher at Wesley International Academy in Atlanta, had taken his niece to the park to celebrate her birthday.
Riders who boarded Goliath before Kariem reported problems with restraints that wouldn't lock — one witness says staff let the ride depart with a harness visibly unsecured.
At least 12 roller coasters across the US and Canada have been shut down pending safety reviews, with ten sharing the same manufacturer and restraint design as Goliath.
Kariem's wife Eboni was waiting outside the ride when she heard authorities announce someone had died — and immediately feared it was her husband.
