Six million households must check their post for £150 energy bill letters, and some face a February deadline

Anyone told to ring the government helpline must do so by 26 February 2027 or miss out, with letters landing until January. Every billpayer on universal credit, pension credit, housing benefit or income-related ESA now qualifies. Energy minister Polly Billington said 'many families will be struggling' with bills this winter. The money comes off electricity bills, not into bank accounts.

Cornwall Insight forecasts the price cap jumping from £1,723 to £1,999 in January.

Households are warned never to give financial details to callers, texts or emails.

E.ON Next has already credited the £150 to 565,000 customers.
