Six million households will get £150 off winter energy bills, but any text or call offering it is a scam

Letters for the Warm Home Discount began landing on Thursday 22 October and will keep arriving until January 2027. Martin Lewis' MoneySavingExpert warns the Government sends only paper letters, so any text or call claiming you qualify is a scam. Some recipients must ring a helpline before 26 February 2027 to claim. You must have been named on your electricity bill on 23 August 2026.

All billpayers on means-tested benefits now qualify after previous restrictions were scrapped.
