A dual UK-Iranian national, aged 25, has been released on bail after being arrested in Westminster on suspicion of preparation of terrorist acts under the Terrorism Act 2006, becoming the sixth man bailed in connection with the alleged plot against RAF Fairford. Prime Minister Andy Burnham has said there are 'strong indications' that Iran played a direct role in the incident at the US-run Gloucestershire air base on 27 September.
Five other men, all UK nationals from London aged 23 to 25, were arrested near RAF Fairford after a farmer reported three suspicious vehicles in the Cotswold village of Whelford at 12.45am.
Counter-terrorism police say the investigation into possible foreign state involvement is ongoing, with the UK said to be facing 'serious threats' from Iran.
