Ania Magliano set up the dig on Saturday's Weekend Update with a story about an Oktoberfest ride operator handing free cycling shorts to women to stop upskirting. She said the shorts left women 'vulnerable to something much worse' as a photo of Shane Gillis flashed up behind her. The studio audience cheered loudly. British viewers online said the moment made them feel 'patriotic'.
Gillis, 38, apologised during his 10 October hosting slot, but only for an accidental live F-bomb.
