SNP must answer why rapist Police Scotland sergeant was promoted AFTER his first arrest

Conservative MSP Stephen Kerr is calling on John Swinney and Neil Gray to account for why Campbell Petrie, 50, was promoted to sergeant after his 2009 arrest, before he went on to rape a sleeping colleague and subject a second woman to abuse lasting 17 years. On Friday, Petrie was handed a 12-year sentence at the High Court in Glasgow — the fourth time in five months that a serving or former Police Scotland officer has been exposed as a rapist. Judge Alistair Watson imposed an extended 15-year sentence, telling Petrie the gravity of his "sustained criminal conduct cannot be overstated."
Petrie is among four Police Scotland rapists exposed in five months, the others being Alan Greer, Cameron Ross and John Williamson.
Police Scotland confirmed that 45 serving officers are currently suspended over allegations of violence against women and girls, with around 6,000 officers still awaiting re-vetting.
The Chief Constable warned in August that re-vetting the workforce needed 'sustained investment and resources' — but Kerr says the SNP government has yet to secure the funding.
